The self-regulating heating cables exploiting the characteristics of some polymers to increase its electrical resistance with increasing temperature (PTC effect): this phenomenon results in a self adjustment of the power absorbed by the heating cable according to the difference of temperature which the cable has in that moment and the temperature it has to reach. 

They are available in different wattages and versions (single insulation, shielded, unshielded).
